Entering the barrel at a lower proof of 103 actually costs Michter’s more money than a higher proof in terms of warehousing however Michter’s believe this produces a Kentucky Rye Whiskey which is richer and smoother. You can expect notes of sweet toffee, cherries and subtle spice leading into a creamy finish with a beautifully dry, oaky finish.
