Burgers and Bourbon, they work well together a classic pairing enjoyed by many. That’s how we set the tone for this single barrel of bourbon.

With this barrel pick of Buffalo Trace we were lucky enough to choose through six different barrels. six different barrels is an excellent opportunity to explore the subtle differences in flavour profiles that each barrel offers. 

As the night progressed and everyone savoured the burgers and bourbon, the two finalists emerged, showcasing the most exceptional characteristics and flavours among the selections.

This winner of the night was filled on the 14th of August 2014. Laid to rest in Warehouse I, rick 01, Floor 6 and bottled 8 years and 4 months later.

A group of very keen bourbon lovers the Whisky Lads that joined us for the night have put together these notes for us.

Nose:
Starting with burnt sugar and toasted oak, moving to toffee apple and light chocolate notes.

Palate:
Darker chocolate moves in with hints of dried cherry, creme brûlee and candied red apple followed by an orange chocolatey citrus.

Finish:
A finish of dark oak and and a hint of tobacco, moving to creamy vanilla and milk bottle lollies.
